How to apply Stalosan F
Stalosan is easy to apply. It can be scattered by hand or using buckets with fine holes drilled in the base. It can also be easily applied using an AgriVantage applicator or a leaf blower.
We find that blowing Stalosan F, rather than scattering it, helps to ensure optimal spread of the powder and can be more economical as there is a tendency to overdose when scattering Stalosan F powder.

Apply 50g of Stalosan F per square metre, once weekly.
In general, we recommend that Stalosan F is applied at 50 g/m2 once a day for the first three days. Thereafter, Stalosan F should be used once a week at 50 g/m2.
For optimal effect, we recommend that Stalosan F is spread as evenly as possible over the area which animals have access to. Spread directly over the bedding, especially along the edges where wet-and dampness occurs.
In case of high bacterial load, increased moisture or high stocking densities: application should be increased to 2-3 times per week.

Stalosan F has no “active” ingredient. It comprises the following:
- 3 forms of very pure phosphate
- A specialist structural clay
- Combination of specialist forms of iron and copper salts

Stalosan F is not cytotoxic – it does not invade or destroy cells. Rather, it works as an absorbent, attaching a wide range of pathogenic organisms to its surface.
Stalosan F remains active even in the presence of slurry or straw. And it will remain active for several days.
Its structure allows it to be a powerful drying agent. It binds ammonia from the environment and reduces ammonia emissions by inhibiting urease activity.

Liquid bacterial disinfectants kill pathogens in a clean laboratory or on clean surfaces, but they are quickly inactivated by organic matter present in animal housing. A liquid disinfectant would have no effect on diseases entering animal houses with newly introduced animals.
Stalosan F on the other hand is not affected by organic matter and has a long-term effect. With regular treatment of the bedding and housing Stalosan F allows for consistent and continuous disease control.
Because Stalosan F contains highly reactive copper, it decreases the metabolism and production of pathogens. It contains minerals that bind to the surface of bacteria, virus, fungi, parasites and fly-larvae – leading to the end of their life cycle.
It also contains particles that penetrate the surface of parasites, larvae, insects and worms - leading to death. It contains acid-buffers with a high capacity that inhibits pathogens (sensitive towards pH values below 4).
