Stalosan® F powder is a highly effective biosecurity disinfectant – a drying agent with disinfectant properties – for the control of bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, fly larvae, ammonia and moisture in animal housing.
Stalosan F is recommended for use where there is a high bacteria risk. It does not contain chemicals and will remain active for several days as a drying agent, stabilising the microflora and chemical balance in animal bedding to create a natural and healthy animal environment. The real cost benefit comes from using Stalosan F as a preventative.
NOTE: Where bacteria risk is not high, consider using Stalosan Basic – a low-cost (non-disinfectant) hygiene agent which effectively reduces the development of harmful substances in the animal environment.

More interesting facts about Stalosan F:
Composition
Stalosan F has no “active” ingredient. It comprises the following:
- 3 forms of very pure phosphate – 85%
- A specialist structural clay – 10%
- Combination of specialists forms of iron and copper salts – 4%
- Essential oil – 1%
Mode of Action
Stalosan F is not a cytotoxic – it does not invade or destroy cells. Rather, it works as an absorbent, attaching a wide range of pathogenic organisms to its surface.
Stalosan F does not act as a chemical does and so it remains active even in the presence of slurry or straw. And it will remain active for several days.
Its structure allows it to be a powerful drying agent. It binds ammonia in the air and reduces ammonia emissions by inhibiting urease activity.
How does Stalosan F compare with liquid disinfectants?
Liquid bacterial disinfectants kill pathogens in a clean laboratory, but are quickly inactivated by organic matter in animal houses. A liquid disinfectant would have no effect on diseases entering animal houses with newly introduced animals.
Stalosan F on the other hand also kills pathogens, is not affected by organic matter and has a long-term effect. Because Stalosan F can be added while animals are present, you will have consistent disease control.
Microbial effect of Stalosan F
Because Stalosan F contains highly reactive Copper, it decreases the metabolism and production of pathogens. It contains minerals that bind to the surface of bacteria, virus, fungi, parasites and fly-larvae – leading to the end of their life cycle.
It also contains particles that penetrate the surface of parasites, larvae, insects and worms – leading to death. It contains Acid-buffers with a high capacity that inhibits pathogens (sensitive towards pH values below 4).
Stalosan F is sold and registered in more than 65 countries. It has received the highest recognition, a registration through the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an antimicrobial/disinfectant.
