Jaco Neven

North Island Business Manager
Based in the Waikato, Jaco comes with a strong rural background and experience in a variety of agribusiness roles ranging from quality management in the feed industry to retailing nutritional products, including Sprayfo milk replacers. He also has extensive experience in pig and poultry management.

Jaco hails from South Africa, where his family have a long history in sheep and beef farming. He notes this background is at the forefront of his thinking always.

“I understand that what I bring to the table has an impact on farm and it’s my responsibility to ensure that impact is a positive one” he says.

Having worked for Trouw Nutrition for 3 years in South Africa and more recently for AusPac Ingredients (another supplier of Trouw Nutrition products) in New Zealand and Australia, Jaco offers a comprehensive understanding of the Sprayfo range and the science behind each one.

Working with farmers is Jaco’s ideal role. “Farmers are the backbone of the economy” he states. “I admire their ability to run successful businesses in an ever-changing environment.

“Challenges are nothing new to the primary sector, it’s my job to ensure we harness advances in the industry and equip farmers with functional tools and support to optimise performance.

“I feel privileged to work at AgriVantage, a business that is founded on growing better animals with innovative science-based products and excellent technical advice.”

Cheryl Farrar

South Island Business Manager
Based in mid-Canterbury, Cheryl provides technical and sales support to our South Island farmers. She’s a former dairy farmer and calf rearer with several years’ experience in multiple farm service businesses.

Her understanding of the challenges and objectives on farms all-round the South Island makes her a great asset to the AgriVantage team and hopefully to your business too.

Cheryl’s story starts on a dairy farm at Reefton on the West Coast, where she grew up. She began her career as a dairy farmer at Mosgiel, milking 1,200 cows. She also reared calves for several years.

Prior to joining AgriVantage, Cheryl worked as South Island Sales Consultant for Fiberfresh, Territory Manager for CRV and Technical Sales Consultant for Milkbar.

Her time at CRV and now with AgriVantage appeals to her interest in breeding and rearing animals to maximise their genetic potential.

“It’s great to be part of a business that is focused on rearing healthy animals, selling products that are scientifically developed and proven effective. I am passionate about these products and helping farmers to use them to best effect.”

Cheryl stresses that she does not take a one size fits all approach. “Finding solutions for individual farms is what I am about.”

Natalie Chrystal

Technical Advisor, Nutritionist
An authority in nutrition for all animal types, we count ourselves lucky to have Natalie working with us to provide technical support to farmers and feed manufacturers.

Raised on a mixed livestock farm in Zimbabwe, Natalie has worked in the animal feed and nutrition industry since 2001 - in Africa, Europe, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Representing industry bodies, Natalie is a committee member of the New Zealand Association of Ruminant Nutritionists and a member of the Australian association. Natalie is President of the NZ branch of the World Poultry Science Association and is also a member of the New Zealand Institute of Primary Industry Management. She is fully conversant with NZ MPI regulations and, in addition to technical support, provides registration and QA support to AgriVantage.

An independent nutritionist, we consider Natalie an integral part of the AgriVantage offering, providing customers with advice on using our product range. And, bringing us new opportunities for continued improvements in feed efficiency and profitability.

Improving profitability in the rural sector is what drives her: “Burn down your cities and leave our farms, and your cities will spring up again as if by magic; but destroy our farms and the grass will grow in the streets of every city in the country.” - William Jennings Bryan
